Tomorrow is Craft and Chat at the Centre, but due to a pupil free day, I have decided to spend the afternoon with both my children (worlds best mum right here). Our new teacher was going to show us how to sew a bag from scrap material. I really, really, really wanted to sew a bag, so I did. I Googled for what seemed like an eternity and found all links led to this Hobo Bag. The bag is reversible, but I am boring and kept the inside and outside the same.
This bag took me only a couple of hours to make and the tutorial is pretty easy to understand. I did mess up on my first bag, but it still resembled a bag. I also learned how to sew a dart (again I just Googled this).
Here are a few pics to show you how easy it is (if I can do it, you can).
- Print pattern.
- Cut fabric by four. Sew darts.
- Sew side and bottom of bag.
- Place bag inside bag.
- Sew around opening of the bag.
- Sew straps together.
- Sew straps together.
- Iron and top stich bag.
- The handles on my first bag are incorrect.
